Monthly membership meetings are on the third Thursday of each month at various locations nine months of the year in January, February, March, April, May, September, October, November and December. Membership meetings present opportunities for networking, comaraderie. sharing a meal followed by a program, typically. presentations by local civic leadets, community organizations and historians.

LEGISLATION
The Legislative Committee is deeply involved in promoting State and National legislation in the interest of all military personnel, their dependents and survivors.

COMMUNITY SERVICE
The Chapter undertakes numerous community service projects in support of service members, veterans and their families including support of the Vittles for Vets, Renovation Alliance Roanoke, the Salem VA Medical Center and the Roanoke Valley Veterans Council.
AWARDS
The Chapter supports 15 area high schools and Virginia Tech and Radford University in presenting the annual MOAA JROTC/ROTC Medal awards to distinguished JROTC/ROTC Cadets/Midshipmen. The Chapter established two Leadership Awards presented annually to rising juniors in the Virginia Tech and Radford University ROTC programs including a cash award and framed certificate.
